Psycho-mission in Schwerin: Fire Brigade and Police in Standoff!

yesterday evening, around 6:40 p.m., there was a dramatic use of the fire brigade and police in the Mueßer wood district in Schwerin. A 40-year-old man called for help from his apartment and was apparently in a mental state of emergency. When the rescue workers arrived, however, he had barricaded himself in the apartment.

While the emergency services tried to gain access to the apartment, they noticed smell of smoking. Then they found no choice but to open the door. In the subsequent course, the man's acts of resistance occurred, but the police remained without injuries. The situation represents the challenges with which the rescue workers are confronted if they have to weigh between immediate help and potential danger.
