Serious accident on A57: BMW in flames, four injuries!

A serious traffic accident on Autobahn 57 injured four people on Tuesday afternoon, some of them seriously! The crash occurred between a BMW, occupied by a 58-year-old man and a passenger, and a Skoda in which a 42-year-old woman and her passenger sat. The BMW crashed into the Skoda with full force, causing both vehicles from the road. The BMW opened in flames while the Skoda landed 800 meters away on the roof. Fortunately, the inmates of the burning BMW flee, while the vehicle occupants of the Skoda initially seemed trapped.

A massive use of the volunteer fire brigade was necessary because the accident site included several hundred meters. Deletion groups from Hassum and Hommersum as well as fire guards from the city center were on site to fight the flames and secure the scene of the accident. City fire inspector Stefan Pieper led the effort. Despite the initial reports of trapped inmates, it turned out that they were not caught in their vehicle. The fire brigade fought against the fire at the BMW and on adjacent burning bushes.
