Water damage in Weinheim: intensive care patients evacuated!

Werderstraße, 69469 Weinheim, Deutschland - In Weinheim, massive water damage in a residential and commercial building on Werderstrasse caused hectic scenes and the short-term evacuation of patients from extra-clinical intensive care. On Saturday evening, April 26, the Weinheim volunteer fire department was alerted shortly after 10 p.m. A technical defect left water over several floors, which was looking for its way through blankets and walls and sometimes also escaped on the outer facade.

The fire brigade used its aerial ladder to carefully examine the damage on the facade and the roof. Because of the risk to the patient, they had to be transferred to other care facilities as a precaution. DRK rescue workers and the Maltese supported the use with several ambulances. While the fire brigade completed its technical work around 3 a.m., the emergency services lasted until the early hours of the morning before it was successfully completed at 9 a.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this dramatic use.
