Community exercise of the fire brigades: forest fire scenario on the Dreiherrenstein

Dreiherrenstein, Deutschland - Last Sunday, a spectacular joint exercise by the fire brigades from Erndtebrück, Hilchenbach and Kirchhundem took place on the "Dreiherrenstein". Under the direction of Karsten Lewitz, Karl Friedrich Müller and Thomas Beckmann, around 60 emergency services with nine vehicles simulated a forest and surface burn. Although participation in a Sunday was remarkable, the camaraderie of everyone present was outstanding.

The exercise, which took place under the watchful eyes of the national fire brigade, had the goal of testing the technical-logistical opportunities to combat a forest fire. Representatives of the three fire brigades took the opportunity for intensive exchange about equipment, operational tactics and vehicle technology. Not only in common, but also differences were found. Mutual insight into the strengths of the neighbors underlined the effective value of cooperation across the district borders. The firefighters agreed: such exercises will have to take place more often in the future!
