Breaked theft: Unknown people flee from the Bad Camberg rest area

on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, an attempted theft was reported from a car on the Bad Camberg rest area towards Cologne. The incident occurred when a 25-year-old man from Düsseldorf put his black BMW 1 Cabrio in the parking lot to visit the toilet facilities there. First, his two companions stayed in the vehicle, but ultimately decided to get out.

On his return, the driver noticed an unknown male person who searched the trunk of his vehicle. The man, who was about 40 years old and around 175 cm tall, had a three-day beard and was dressed in a black baseball cap and a black jacket from Joop. He also wore a dark brown men's pocket, black jeans and shoes.

Details of the incident

When the 25-year-old addressed the perpetrator, he immediately escaped. The escape led the man over the rest area and via the lanes of the A3 motorway to the opposite side. Fortunately, nothing was stolen from the driver's BMW, so that the incident was less serious than initially feared.

The Wiesbaden police ask for witnesses who may have seen the incident or can provide further information about the refugee perpetrator. The Wiesbaden police motorway station can be contacted on 0611-345-4140.

This incident throws a light on the security situation on motorway rasty areas. The rest areas, although furnished for relaxation and a short breather during long journeys, can also be places where criminal activities take place. The vehicle owners are encouraged to take additional precautions, especially if they leave their vehicle stand for a short time.

The rest of the motorways are often heavily frequented, but it is not uncommon for the security measures not to receive enough attention. This event reminds you to be vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately. Traffic authorities and police are continuously working on ensuring security for travelers and minimizing such incidents.
