Vendômer Platz, Deutschland - A terrifying incident occurred on Thursday at 4:35 p.m. in the Kaufland in Gevelsberg: Customers and employees suffered acute irritation, caused by a previously unknown irritant gas that had sprayed an unknown person in the entrance area. The fire brigade, emergency services and police immediately moved to control the situation. The entire building was immediately evacuated.
A total of 35 people had to be looked after medically, nine of them were brought to the caution in surrounding hospitals. Fortunately, it quickly turned out that there was no acute danger because the irritant gas quickly evaporated. After a duration of two and a half hours, the market management finally gave the green light for the reopening of the Kaufland. The Gevelsberg fire brigade was on site with a large contingent, supported by forces from Wuppertal and the Ennepe-Ruhr district. The police took immediate measures to clarify the incident.
