Young man smashed town hall window - police capture him!

On Sunday morning, April 27, 2025, a 19-year-old man from Moers caused excitement when he smashed a glass pane of the town hall on Rathausplatz with a hammer. The police and witnesses were quickly on hand: the description of the alleged vandal led the officials to a nearby street where the young man tried to flee.

But his escape ended abruptly at the intersection of Mühlenstraße/Rheinberger Straße! After lying some objects, he was overwhelmed and arrested on an adjacent green area. During the search, the police found two kitchen knives in his jacket pockets. The 19-year-old was taken into custody to prevent further crimes and is now faced with criminal proceedings for property damage and resistance to enforcement officers.
