Police Langenfeld: Pedelec training for safe driving on September 10th

The district police authority Mettmann invites all interested cyclists to a special pedelec training that takes place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. This training is an excellent offer to further develop and manage possible dangers in road traffic in the safe use of e-bikes.

from 10 a.m. the course will begin at the "Wiescheider Treff", at the address "Alt Wiescheid 20a". The participants can expect a three -hour event that treats both theoretical and practical aspects. Under the direction of police chief Matthias Buff, the participants not only give the participants technical tips on the correct setting of the pedelec, but also behaviors in critical traffic situations that are practiced on a practice course.

A central goal of the training is to learn the basic handling of the electrically supported bicycles. Many people who do not cycle regularly are often insufficiently prepared for the different speeds and the driving behavior of pedelecs. This can lead to risky maneuvers in dangerous situations that can be avoided if you prepare properly. The course is therefore aimed not only at experienced cyclists, but also to people who have no longer sat on the bike for a long time or are impaired by personal restrictions in their mobility.

The training also offers important information about the causes of accidents and security aspects that are important for all cyclists. A particularly important point is the "security through visibility", which also includes wearing a bicycle helmet. The policy will inform the participants about the dangers that are often overlooked. This includes, among other things, that many cyclists need to know how they behave sensibly in road traffic.

Participation in this free training requires its own pedelec because rental bikes are not available. At the event, wearing a helmet is mandatory, and toilets are also available. In order to give the participants the opportunity to briefly pause during the course, regular small breaks are planned.
