Cologne (ots)

A worrying pattern of robberies recently occurred at the Leverkusen ferry port, which the Cologne police are calling. The officials are intensively looking for witnesses who can provide information about two brutal incidents that took place on August 31 and on September 2, 2024. It was a call to the public to ensure security in the area and to hold the perpetrators into account.

The first raid occurred on August 31 at 9:45 p.m. when a 49-year-old man out of Much became the destination of three attackers. These men suddenly started him, hit him several times and dragged him to the ground. In this violent attack, the victim was stolen his smartphone. Thanks to the rapid reaction of the emergency services, the man was able to get away with minor injuries. However, another aspect of the incident meant that the injured party has so far not been able to deliver a description of the attackers, which makes the investigation significantly more difficult.

the subsequent attack

Just two days later, on Monday evening, September 2, another robbery was reported. At around 9 p.m., a 68-year-old man from Essen was attacked on Fährstrasse. Here, too, several dark -haired men were involved who violently overwhelmed the older gentleman and tore them to the ground. During this brutal attack, the perpetrators not only robbed a smartphone, but also cash. As with the first attack, the 68-year-old also suffered minor injuries.

The police have started the investigation as part of the criminal commissioner 14 and is currently chosen whether there is a connection between the two incidents. This aspect could not only be significant for the clarification of the acts, but also for the implementation of future protective measures in the urban area.

call for help

In order to get to the perpetrator, the officials turn to the population: witnesses who have more information about the events or by name to the fleeting perpetrators are asked to report by phone at 0221 229-0 or by email to poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de. The contact can be crucial to enable quick and quick clarification of the incidents.

The encounter of violence and crime not only raises questions about security in the region, but also shows how important an active citizen participation is to guarantee the return to a reliable everyday life. The Cologne police relies on the support of the citizens to take action against crime and make a contribution to preventing such incidents.
