A day later, on September 7, 2024, a wallet was stolen between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in a food discounter on Bethelner Landstrasse. A previously unknown perpetrator stole the wallet of an 86-year-old Gronauer from her shopping bag. It was estimated that damage was caused by the double -digit range. The police point out that simple measures can help to prevent pickpocketing. Valuvers should be worn close to the body, since bags that hang on shopping carts are easy to reach for thieves. Distracting maneuvers are also typical methods that use pickpockets to make quick prey.
Another incident occurred on the same day when a fire broke out in a wooden hut at the youth center on Blanke Strasse around 1:00 p.m. Several residents noticed the strong smoke development and chose the emergency call. The fire brigade and other emergency services were immediately alerted. The wooden hut burned down completely, the damage is estimated at around 7,200 euros. Due to the traces that have been seen currently, it cannot be ruled out that the fire has been deliberately laid. As with the other incidents, the police are dependent on information from the population.
The willingness of the citizens to provide relevant information is of crucial importance for the clarification of these offenses. The Elze police asks everyone who has observed something or have information about these situations to report on 05068/9338-0. Together we can ensure a safe environment and contain criminal behavior.
