Cyclists fatally injured: tragic accident in Gera!

On Wednesday afternoon, April 23, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Gera, in which a 43-year-old cyclist was killed. The man was on the Leibnizstraße in a city -old direction around 3:45 p.m. when he got into the tracks of the tram due to an even more unknown cause. He fell and was hit by a tram, tragically being trapped under the vehicle.

Despite the rapidly initiated rescue measures, including a rescue helicopter, the cyclist died at the scene of the accident. The 39-year-old tram driver and passengers remained unharmed. The property damage on the tram and bicycle is estimated on a low four -digit amount. The Gera police have now investigated the exact cause of the accident. The area was closed for about two hours before it was released.
