Rapid chase: the police stops alleged street races in Wuppertal

on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2025, the Wuppertal police became aware of two frenzied drivers who were waiting at a red traffic light on Bundesallee at Bahnhofstrasse. When the light switched to green, the 34-year-old driver of a VW and his 29-year-old colleague in the Mercedes gave full throttle and drastically exceeded the speed.

The officials stopped the racing drivers on Bundesallee at the level of the Döppersberg. During the control of the VW driver, it quickly turned out that he was sitting drunk behind the wheel. A blood sample was taken in the police station and his driver's license was confiscated. The Mercedes driver, on the other hand, had no driver's license with him. Due to the suspicion of an illegal car race, both vehicles were secured.
