Rapid escape attempt: 22-year-old when checked at the Essen train station!
In a dramatic incident in the main station in Essen on the night of Good Friday, April 18, a 22-year-old man was arrested when he tried to evade control by the federal police. At around 00:15 a.m., the police addressed the suspect and his 26-year-old companion, but the young man escaped towards the main hall. His escape ended abruptly when he slipped on the staircase and fell to the ground, where the officers recorded him tied up.
The reason for his panicked flight was quickly clear: the man was searched for an arrest warrant. During the arrest, his partner also handed over the police officer with a small amount of amphetamine and explained that the narcotics belonged to her friend. A subsequent fingerprint scan finally confirmed its identity without doubt, and a breath alcohol test resulted in a value of 1.5 per thousand.
