A current speed measurement in Iserlohn made headlines when a driver drove through a zone at a speed of 85 km/h, in which only 50 km/h are allowed. This incident occurred on August 31, 2024, in Kalthofer Straße, a section with strict speed limits within closed towns. The radar recorded a total of 1,010 vehicles in the period from 8:35 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and the result was shocking.
The measured vehicle crossed the speed limit by 35 km/h and not only attracted the attention of traffic monitoring, but also led to a driving ban. 94 drivers received a warning of the more than 1,000 vehicles passing through, while 21 advertisements were reimbursed against the traffic rules due to administrative offenses. However, the greater relevance lies in the only imposed driving ban, which was imposed on the driver who had reached this excessive speed.
other measuring points show high speeds
But Iserlohn has not only strikingly fast drivers in Kalthof. In a further measurement on the same day on Ruhrtalstrasse in Iserlohn-Rheinen, 200 vehicles were recorded. The measurement took place from 12:25 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Here the highest value at 58 km/h fell in a zone, where only 30 km/h are allowed. In this case too, 18 administrative offenses were reimbursed, but no driving ban was necessary.
already a day before, on August 30, 2024, a speed measurement took place on the old Poststrasse, which focused on an even larger number of vehicles. 1,910 drivers were observed there, with 124 warnings pronounced and 27 administrative offenses were created. The highest measured value was 110 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, but there was also a driving ban.
These statistics illustrate the dangerous driving behavior of many road users in the region, which not only affects traffic safety, but should also raise awareness among the citizens. The police's measures are crucial to ensure better traffic education and make the streets safer.
