Raser hunt on Good Friday: A61 under control-1100 tempo sharpening!

Nürburgring, Deutschland - On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, police officers from the Landau, Ludwigshafen and Neustadt police officers carried out a large -scale traffic control on the A61 between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The main lane towards Koblenz was completely blocked and the traffic was led over the “Auf der Hahnen” parking lot. They were supported by THW logistics forces who provided the necessary infrastructure.

The focus of the controls was on the arrival traffic for the traditional “Carfriday” meeting at the Nürburgring, which is the starting signal of the tuning season. A total of 139 vehicles and 274 people were checked during the controls. Four crimes were found, including violations of the compulsory insurance law and two cases of driving without driving license. In 37 other cases, administrative offenses were initiated, mainly because of the expiry of the operating license. Five drivers were prohibited from continuing and two vehicles were towed. In addition, a mobile speed measuring system registered 1,100 speed overruns within just eight hours. These measures illustrate the urgency of police traffic safety work.
