Racing cyclist in Grunewald seriously injured after a collision with a car

In a dramatic incident in Grunewald, a 37-year-old racing cyclist was seriously injured in the evening when he got on oncoming traffic and collided with a car. The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. on the Havelchaussee when the cyclist lost control in a right-hand bend and head-on with an oncoming vehicle that was directed by a 48-year-old driver.

The racing cyclist fell through the force of the impact and suffered injuries to the head and upper body. Alarmed rescue workers immediately took him to hospital for inpatient treatment. Police directorate 4 (south) has now taken over the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
