Rescue helicopter in the event of a serious accident in Mettmann

On Monday, April 28, 2025, the emergency services of the city of Mettmann was requested twice. At 10:15 a.m., a surgical emergency on Herrenhauser Straße alerted the emergency services. Due to the severity of the violation of a patient, a rescue helicopter was requested that had to land on the nearby fire station on Laubacher Strasse.

In the afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., there was a serious traffic accident on the Südring, Höhe Benninghofer Weg. A car driver lost control for previously unknown reasons and crashed head-on against a tree with her 14-month-old baby. Both were seriously injured, so that two ambulances, an emergency vehicle and a rescue helicopter were necessary. A total of eight vehicles from the fire brigade and three of the emergency services were deployed, while the Südring was completely closed during the rescue work, which led to slight traffic disruptions.
