Around 2:50 p.m., an argument in Theatergasse escalated when the 13-year-old punched the younger student into his face several times with his fist. In a surprising turn, the 11-year-old pulled out a kitchen knife and added a slight injury to the older one.

After the incident, the 11-year-old fled, but was quickly found by the emergency services. After a hearing accompanied by his legal guardians, he was released. The 13-year-old was treated on site and then cared for on an outpatient basis in the hospital. Initial investigations suggest that the dispute could have been preceded by earlier conflicts between the two.
