on Sunday, April 27, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident between Föhren and Schweich in the direction of Saarbrücken at 4:45 p.m. on the A1. A driving maneuver led to a dramatic collision between an Opel and a Tesla. The Tesla crashed into the middle protection plank and stayed there, while the Opel came to a standstill on the right lane. Both vehicles were no longer ready to drive and had to be towed without notice.

The unit of the motorway was closed for a full 1.5 hours during the landing of a rescue helicopter and the accident recording, which led to enormous traffic disruptions. Drivers had to adjust to longer waiting times and chaotic circumstances while the emergency services worked on site.
