BENNG-A dramatic traffic accident occurred on Tuesday at 2:40 p.m. on the B 71. A 25-year-old man from Leipzig drove his VW towards Bremervörde when he initially crashed into a traffic island due to an unadjusted speed and carelessness. In the further course he collided with two street trees, a lantern and several traffic signs. The 25-year-old was seriously injured in the accident and had to be taken to the hospital.

The police are now urgently looking for a driver who drove in an Audi. She stopped briefly, claimed to have to go to a dentist's appointment, and then left the scene of the accident without fulfilling her duties. The Audi's license plate is previously unknown and witnesses are asked to report.

In addition, there was another incident on Wednesday morning on the A1 at Sottrum: a truck driver crashed into a turned out work vehicle when he made a mistake when dodging. The 37-year-old employee in the vehicle was slightly injured, the truck driver was not injured. The property damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros, and the right lane had to be blocked during the accident, which led to traffic disruptions.
