A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, August 31, in Neuss, when an 85-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in an accident. It was around 11:10 a.m. when the two road users met at the Rheydter Straße and Bauerbahn intersection. The experienced cyclist cycled on the Bauerbahn street towards Morgenstersheide when, according to the police, he disregarded the red light at the traffic light. This decision should have fatal consequences.
At the same time, a 37-year-old driver from Korschenbroich approached Rheydter Straße, who drove into the intersection at yellow. As a result, there was a collision between the cyclist and the driver's vehicle. The impact was violent and left the cyclist with serious injuries, while the driver who was taken to the hospital for outpatient treatment did not suffer any serious injuries. His passenger was completely unharmed.
