In the early morning hours of August 30, 2024, a serious traffic accident occurred in Munich, which involves several vehicles and numerous people. At the Georg-Ummer-Ring, a frequented traffic hub in the north of the city, four cars collided, with five people being injured and brought to nearby clinics.
The alarms of the emergency services took place at 8:06 a.m. Due to the different location information in the emergency calls, the use was chaotic. In order to do justice to the situation, the forces arriving first divided in order to be able to react quickly and effectively. The operations manager waived an approach from the originally specified position and moved over radio to coordinate the rescue measures. When they arrived, it quickly became clear that several participants had met each other at the confusing intersection.
Details on the accident sequence
The accident was triggered by the collision of a black audis with a smart. So far, the exact reason for the collision is unclear. In addition to the driver, there was also a pregnant woman in the Audi, while the woman was traveling alone in the smart. The violent impact catapulted the smart on a white car where only the driver was. The BMW, which was also involved in the accident, only came to a stop at some distance.
The impact was fatal, especially for the pregnant passenger of the Audis and for the driver of the smart. While the pregnant woman came to the hospital seriously injured, the driver of the smart was trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed by the fire brigade. The rescue team had to work with heavy equipment. The driver of the BMW suffered moderate injuries, while the drivers of the Audi and the white car wore slight injuries and were also brought into medical care.The fire brigade not only took over the securing of the accident site during its rescue work, but also ensured that the fire protection was maintained. Oil and other operating substances that got on the road through the collision were bound and the road was cleaned. After about an hour, in which around 25 firefighters were on site with numerous rescue workers, the site was handed over to the police. The investigation into the exact course of the accident is underway and there is currently no information about the health of the injured.
