Safe cycling: Action to traffic safety starts in Neubrandenburg!

Marktplatz, 17033 Neubrandenburg, Deutschland - On May 6, 2024, the starting signal for the nationwide traffic controls was given as part of the campaign "Drive.Astan.leben!" on the marketplace in Neubrandenburg. The focus of this year's initiative is on two -wheeler traffic to raise awareness of the dangers in road traffic, especially with regard to the importance of the bicycle helmet.

At the opening event, a total of 100 police forces checked 837 vehicles and recorded 133 violations. In the area of responsibility of the Neubrandenburg police headquarters, 452 vehicles were checked, 60 violations of the right of way and priority, 8 cell phone violations were found for cyclists and 2 drug violations for e-scooter drivers. In addition, traffic weeks and a regional bicycle dealer on the market in Neubrandenburg offered information on safe behavior in road traffic as well as practical activities such as bicycle coding, helmet tests and simulators.

The controls are continued throughout May to further increase traffic safety.
