Security controls in public transport: Police secure knives and drugs!

This afternoon, the Itzehoe police, together with federal police officers, carried out large-scale control in local public transport in order to enforce the weapons and knife ban. The reason for this campaign is the new regulations of the Weapons Act that come into force from October 2024 and prohibit the carrying of weapons and knives in outer transport. In Schleswig-Holstein, according to a new regulation, knives must not be transported at hand since December 2024.

From 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a total of 150 people were checked at the train station in Heide. The emergency services confiscated four knives and initiated the corresponding administrative offense procedures against the owners. In addition, investigations have been initiated in two other people because they were in possession of no small amounts of intoxicants. Most citizens showed understanding of the measures that aim to increase security in local and long-distance transport. The police announced that it would continue to carry out controls.
