Security concept at the main train station: Police draws positive balance!

Hauptbahnhof Hildesheim, Deutschland - The Hildesheim police inspection takes a first record of its intensive investigations at the main train station after six months. The high crime rate in this area in particular has forced authorities to act. A total of 43 investigations of assault have been initiated since December 2024, with successful identifications of suspects through the close cooperation with the Federal Police. With a variety of missions there were 709 identity assessments and 213 searches in which prohibited objects were secured.

The police also issued five residence bans against intensely conspicuous young people for six months to prevent future crimes. The measures have already had an effect, emphasizes press spokesman Jan Makowski, while the police are planning to further increase their presence. In order to increase security, video surveillance of the station forecourt is planned in order to strengthen the feeling of security of the population. After consultation with the mayor and the data protection authority, the surveillance will be put into operation shortly.
