Strong police presence in Brühl: Security on the day of diversity

brühl (ots)

in Brühl, on Saturday morning, August 31, the police presence in the city center was striking. The reason for this was an urgent note of a witness who had observed a potentially dangerous incident. Before the event "Day of Brühler Diversity", which took place that day, the police exposed themselves to precautionary measures to guarantee the security of the event.

At around 7 a.m., the witness at Heider Bergsee noticed a young man who was between 20 and 25 years old and held a knife in his hand. This man expressed threats and was on the road with a bare torso, which also made the situation alarming. The suspect is described as a man with black hair. The police immediately initiated measures to search and would like to include the population.

increased security situation during the city festival

The event "Day of Brühler Diversity" moved to the city, which is why the police decided to strengthen their presence in view of the witness notice. Even if a direct connection between the incident and the city festival is currently not visible, it seemed important to the authorities to minimize any possible threat. The riot police were also included in the security measures to ensure that all participants of the festival can enjoy a safe environment.

The Rhein-Erft-Kreis police appealed to the citizens of being attentive and reporting any suspicious observations immediately. In particular, the man described, which witnesses will report on, could be afghan origin. References to the young man can be given by phone via the police call "110" or by email to poststelle.rhein-erft-kreis@polizei.nrw.de

This is an example of the ongoing vigilance of the police authorities, especially in times of events in which many people gather. The timely intervention and the quick action of the police could help to avert potential dangers in good time.
