On Sunday, September 8, 2024, a tragic traffic accident occurred at around 3:17 p.m. on the B54 between Hohenstein-Born and Taunusstein-Seitzenhahn, which causes a sensation in the region. A 19-year-old driver from Bad Schwalbach, who was traveling with his BMW towards Taunusstein, lost control of his vehicle in a right-hand bend. The car came off the road and collided head-on with an oncoming Mitsubishi, whose 60-year-old driver from Taunusstein was seriously injured.

This dramatic turn started when the Mitsubishi was trapped in the vehicle by the force of the impact. Despite the rapid reaction of the volunteer fire brigade, which was able to free the driver from the car, he suffered such serious injuries that he later died in the Mainz University Hospital. It is also tragic that the young BMW driver had to be brought to the hospital seriously injured, as well as his 16-year-old passenger from Heidenrod, who was luckily only slightly injured.

Details on the course of the accident

The exact course of the accident is still unclear and is currently being examined by an expert who was consulted by the Wiesbaden public prosecutor's office. During the accident, it was found that there was an oil track in the area of the accident site. It is currently part of the investigation whether this oil track can be considered as the cause of the accident. The amount of the property damage incurred is estimated at around 36,000 euros, which underlines the serious consequences of the accident.

The B54 had to be completely blocked during the entire accident, which led to disabilities in traffic. The police have already called for witnesses who have observed the accident to report to the police station in Bad Schwalbach. Information can be given by phone on 06124 / 7078-0 or by email to pst.bad.schwalbach.ppwh@polizei.hessen.de.

This type of traffic accidents not only arouses concern among the population, but also draws attention to the increasing need to check the road conditions and, if necessary, improve. Accidents such as this, especially if they are influenced by external factors such as oil traces, often lead to serious injuries and losses. Such incidents make the importance of security information and regular controls for all road users clear.

The thoughts of the community are among the injured and the relatives of the deceased driver who have suffered a difficult loss. It remains to be hoped that the investigation will quickly lead to clarity and to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
