Delmenhorst (ots)
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, an unfortunate traffic accident on Autobahn 1 in the direction of Osnabrück, near the Lohne/Dinklage junction, occurred at around 11:00 a.m. Six vehicles were involved in the incident, which pointed out the dangers that drivers are exposed to during construction site traffic.
those involved and their fate
among those involved was a 36-year-old woman from North Rhine-Westphalia who sits in one of the cars as a passenger. She suffered minor injuries in the accident and was immediately taken to a hospital. The responsible driver, a 29-year-old man from Hamburg, lost control of his Mercedes, who came off the road in a construction site. He collided with a warning bake, which triggered the chain reaction of the accident.
a dangerous chain effect
The collision with the warning bake led to his foot thrown onto the road. This resulted in the crossing of the property by two SEAT vehicles, a Dacia and a Skoda, which were damaged as a result. The driver of the Skoda, a 51-year-old from Hamburg, was aware of the situation and tried to slow down, but the 33-year-old driver from Soest was no longer able to stop in her Toyota and drove up on the Skoda.
consequences and dimensions of the damage
The total property damage is estimated to be 18,000 euros. The considerable damage to several vehicles meant that both the Mercedes and the Toyota had to be recovered by a towing company. These incidents underline the high risk of being construction sites on motorways for all road users.
The meaning for traffic safety
This accident illustrates the need for increased caution during such traffic conditions, especially in construction site areas. The everyday risk that is exposed to drivers is often underestimated. It is crucial to drive responsibly and especially to take the traffic signs seriously in construction site areas.
