Accident on the BAB5: Mercedes Kracht in truck - driver injured!

On the night of Saturday, a spectacular accident occurred on the BAB 5 towards Darmstadt, which paralyzed traffic for several hours. Around 3:30 a.m., a 60-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz initially got against the middle course schedule due to a suspected second sleep. When the driver came back, he tore the steering wheel to the right and collided violently with the rear of a truck driving next to him. This collision led to the truck turning and also collapsing with the guardrail.

For the accident recording and the necessary cleaning work, the highway in the direction of Darmstadt had to be completely blocked for around 30 minutes from the Ladenburg junction. The traffic could only flow again at around 6:40 a.m., but the right lane remained closed until then. The driver's Mercedes was so badly damaged that it was no longer ready to drive and had to be towed by a specialist company; Fortunately, the truck driver was unharmed.
