Vacationer lost in fog: police save life in the mudflats!

A dramatic rescue operation took place on April 30, 2025 when a 58-year-old vacationer from Sankt Peter-Ording was lost in the dense fog during the dog walk in the mudflats. The emergency call, which was received by the Harrislee regional control center at 8:30 a.m., immediately mobilized the emergency services. Thanks to the new technology of the Advanced Mobile Location (AML), the woman, who was around almost two kilometers north of the Norderdeich, was quickly located.

The emergency services led the visibly relieved tourist back to the mainland with several locations, so that she could enjoy her last day of vacation. This technological innovation, which has been in use in Schleswig-Holstein since October 2024, enables rapid localization of people in need if you choose the emergency call 110. A happy ending for the vacationer who has escaped a possible danger!
