Forbidden race in Neustadt: Witnesses wanted for dangerous incident

Neustadt/Weinstraße recently experienced an incident that attracted the attention of the police and re -losing the discussions about traffic safety. On the evening of August 29, 2024, around 6:55 p.m., a patrol from the Neustadt police inspection was accidentally near Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse when it was witness to dangerous driving behavior.

At the same time, a car turned from Moltkestrasse to Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and took the privilege of a bicycle driver. The Situation escalated when the driver of the car suddenly accelerated. This led to a deafening sound of the engine and squeaky tires, which triggered great concern among passers -by and the police. The permissible top speed in this area, especially near a school, is 30 km/h. However, the driver significantly exceeded this speed, which is why the police initiated measures that act immediately.

The endangered road user

In the course of the research, it turned out that the 37-year-old driver vehemently denied any misconduct. Despite his claims, the man is now displayed for a forbidden motor vehicle race. This type of crime must not only be taken seriously, it also leads to criminal consequences. In particular, the driver threatens the loss of his driver's license, which can mean a significant restriction for many who rely on their vehicle.

according to German criminal law (§315d StGB), it is remarkable that not necessarily two vehicles do not have to take part in an illegal race to justify criminal liability. A single vehicle can also be punished if the driver ruthlessly and grossly traffic -contrary to traffic in order to achieve the highest possible speed.

The police have now started a call to possible witnesses that could have observed the incident. In particular, the officials are looking for information about the cyclist, which was put in danger by the careless behavior of the car driver. The Neustadt police inspection asks witnesses to report. This is an important measure to obtain clarity about the incident and to ensure traffic safety in the city. The contact details are: 06321 8540 or by email to pineustadt@Polizei.rlp.de.

The incident in Neustadt is another example of the urgent need to raise awareness of traffic safety and to punish ruthless driving. The city administration and police actively campaign for secure traffic conditions and encourage all road users to always drive responsibly.

The relevance of such incidents goes beyond the individual misconduct of a road user. They reflect a greater social problem in which speed is often placed on the security of life. It remains to be hoped that such events not only lead to legal consequences, but can also have a positive impact on the behavior of other road users.
