Traffic chaos on B1: Young people injured after spectacular accident!

On Wednesday afternoon, April 23, 2025, around 5:40 p.m. on federal road 1, near the "Forsthaus" intersection, there was a dramatic traffic accident. An 18-year-old driver from Höxter lost control with his Mercedes C180 in a left turn, crashed into two guidelines and landed in the ditch. Both the driver and his 16-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, but declined medical treatment.

The accident took a dangerous turn: a torn guideline was thrown into oncoming traffic and damaged an oncoming BMW 5 Series, whose 19-year-old driver from Detmold was luckily unharmed. The police took the Mercedes into custody after a technical defect was listed as a possible cause of the accident. The investigation runs, while the total damage is estimated at around 10,800 euros.
