Road safety in Hanover: Finally dropped accidents!

Hannover, Deutschland - The Hannover Police Directorate (PD Hannover) has found a pleasant decline in traffic accidents and traffic fatalities for 2024. According to the latest statistics, the total number of traffic accidents has dropped to the 2015 level compared to the highest level of 2017. The situation for cyclists has developed particularly positively: the number of fatal accidents in this group was reduced from eight to three, even more than half less. Likewise, the risk group of the young people recorded a decline in incidents.

However, the numbers of the crashed children and seniors are less gratifying. The accidents with children increased to 479, while the number of seniors affected in road traffic compared to the previous year by 8.1 percent to 986. Police Vice President Thorsten Massinger emphasizes how important it is to increase traffic safety and take targeted prevention measures. Despite positive developments, everyone involved remains called up to promote traffic safety and be vigilant, since every traffic fatalities are one too much.
