A dramatic traffic accident on Thursday evening kept the Hünxe fire brigade and the emergency services in suspense. The fire brigade was alerted at 4:34 p.m. after a small van on Dinslakener Straße had strayed from the road and crashed into a tree. The driver was trapped in his vehicle and suffered serious injuries.
In no time at all, three units of the Hünxe fire brigade, supported by the emergency services and the police, came to the site. The first priority was to stabilize the vehicle in order to be able to ensure a secure saving of the driver. The emergency services also secured fire protection, while the emergency services immediately started with medical care.
technical rescue in the focus
The technical rescue was challenging. The strong deformation of the passenger cell made it necessary to use hydraulic rescue equipment. The collaboration between the fire brigade and the emergency services was of great importance in this critical situation. After around 45 minutes of intensive work, the emergency services were able to free the driver and give him the first life -saving measures before he was transported to the ambulance and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The tactics were effective, but the situation was not without risks. "The deformation of the passenger cell was a major challenge, which we were able to master thanks to our preparation and training," said a spokesman for the fire brigade. The technical aids would have proven to be indispensable.
But that was not the only thing that the emergency services dealt with that evening. Just ten minutes after the alarm for the traffic accident, they received another command. At 4:44 p.m. it was reported that a person urgently needed medical help on Bensumskamp, but could not open the door itself.
- The Unit Bucholtwelmen was immediately sent to the new site, flanked by a management and a fire truck that previously worked in the traffic accident.
- The emergency services managed to gain access to the apartment and finally handed the person in need to the emergency services.
After about half an hour, this second assignment was successfully completed. During all of these activities, the police were on site and regulated the traffic to support the smooth running of the rescue measures.
Another aspect of this use was the outlet of operating substances after the impact of the vehicle. The regulatory office was consulted to coordinate the necessary measures. This included coordination with the road construction carrier and the responsible water authorities to minimize potential environmental damage.
Overall, this evening impressively showed the commitment and professionalism of the rescue workers in Hünxe. After about three hours the first assignment was completed and the emergency services were able to leave the site while they were already prepared for the next challenge.
