Caution, fraud! QR-Codes lure Lüdenscheidin into the trap
Timbergstraße, 58644 Lüdenscheid, Deutschland - A 46-year-old woman from Lüdenscheid was the victim of a refined attempt at fraud while looking for buyers at an online flea market. A supposed interest sent to her a QR code that the woman should scan to receive a payment. Instead, her money was rebooked by her call money account to her checking account-the fraudster apparently had access to her online banking. Fortunately, the Lüdenscheider was able to undo the rebooking in good time and block her bank card and the online banking function.
The police warn of using such QR codes that can easily get into the hands of fraudsters. These codes often lead to fake payment pages, where unsuspecting users are tempted to enter their sensitive bank details. Buyers should be careful in online trading and should not follow links from unknown sources. Security measures such as strong passwords and current security software are essential to protect themselves from such frauds.
