Call witness call: Pedelec driver injured in an accident with e-scooter in Leonberg
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, around 4:30 p.m. in Leonberg there was a remarkable accident that attracts the attention of the police. In a place that is usually accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, a 37-year-old Pedelec driver crashed after overlooking an e-scooter driver who put on her.
The incident occurred behind a shopping center on Leonberger Straße, an area that is usually used by cyclists and pedestrians. The woman intended to drive left towards Ostertagstrasse when she noticed the e-scooter driver, who approached her. In order to avoid a collision, she broke abruptly, causing it to stand up. Unfortunately, the e-scooter driver apparently did not notice it and crashed into the front wheel of her pedelec.
Details on the course of the accident
The collision led to a fall of both road users. The pedelec driver suffered minor injuries while her bike was also damaged. An important detail in this case is that the e-scooter driver simply continued his journey after the accident without taking care of the injured woman. Such behavior raises questions and could be considered negligent.
The police are now looking for witnesses who have observed the incident or can provide further information about the e-scooter driver. According to the information on the person, the suspect is estimated at around 40 to 45 years and is about 175 cm tall. In addition, an athletic body and special clothing are described: he wore a black helmet with mint green stripes, black cyclists, a tight t-shirt and sneakers.
Witnesses who could provide valuable information are urgently asked to report to the Leonberg police station. This can be done by phone at 07152 605-0 or by email to leonberg.prev@Polizei.bwl.de
accidents of this kind are not only on the immediate consequences for those involved, but also raise general security issues in road traffic, especially when it comes to interaction between different means of transport such as pedelecs and e-scooters. Since e-scooters are increasingly popular in urban areas, it is crucial to increase awareness of security measures and to emphasize responsibility in traffic.
