Customs investigation destroys illegal e-cigarettes: 160,000 pieces ensured!

Essen, Deutschland - The Zoll investigator Essen has carried out a massive blow against illegal trade in e-cigarettes! Almost 160,000 e-cigarettes were ensured, which causes tax damage of around half a million euros. The investigation is directed against two 36-year-old men from Gladbeck who are accused of importing and selling unmistaked and non-transportable e-cigarettes.

On April 1, 2025, the customs investigators search both the company rooms in Lünen and the suspect's apartment. They discovered almost 700 e-cigarettes and hundreds of thousands of pods without control signs in the apartment. In the business premises, the investigators found over 7,000 other pods and almost 800 untrained e-cigarettes. The investigation continues, while authorities continue to announce criminal and tax consequences for violations of the legal provisions against substitutive tobacco products that have been in force since July 2022.
