Increase in shop theft and fraud: Police asks for help

In the past few days, several incidents have occurred in Emden and Moormerland, which included both criminal activities and deceptions by false police officers. These events throw a light on the current security situation in the region and require increased vigilance of the population. The perpetrators pretended to be a police officer and in a phone call they informed the older lady about supposed burglaries near them. In their speech, they were so clever that the woman believed that she had to hand over her valuables to the alleged officials for her own security. The lady followed the instructions and placed her valuable items on the doorstep, where they were then picked up by an unknown person. In the event of a later call to the police, it turned out that such a procedure was never requested by real police officers. The woman arose considerable financial damage in a five -digit amount.

The police advise to be careful in such situations and always inquire directly at the local police station. This could prevent other citizens from falling into this trap, which aims entirely on the fraud of unscrupulous perpetrators.

also on August 27th another shoplifting was reported, this time in a supermarket in Fritz-Reuter-Straße. A 34-year-old Emderin was observed when she wanted to cross the cash register with her stroller without payment. Only a small part of the goods were paid for, while the rest that came from a discounter was unauthorized under the stroller. Surprisingly, it turned out that her minor daughter was also involved in theft, which makes the situation even more complicated. Overall, the value of the stolen goods added up to a low three -digit amount.
