On Monday, May 19, 2025, a spectacular traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Basler Straße and Weiler Strasse in Freiburg, where two vehicles were involved. A 33-year-old driver overtook a waiting car when the rail barrier was closed and carelessly turned left into Basler Straße. In doing so, he overlooked an 85-year-old driver who was entitled to right.

The two cars collapsed in the confluence area, but luckily the incident remained without injuries. The property damage caused is an estimated 50,000 euros. A real happiness in misfortune for those involved that nobody was harmed - but the fright could sit deep!
