Carbon monoxide alarm in Bochumer Gartenhütte: eight injuries, including children!

On Friday evening, October 4, 2024, the Bochum fire brigade was called for an assignment in an allotment garden on Engelsburger Straße, after eight people, including four children, were injured by carbon monoxide poisoning. The injuries apparently felt uncomfortable and complained of circulatory problems after a coal grill was operated in a garden hut. The fire brigade was alerted at 11:35 p.m. and sent several ambulances and emergency doctors to help.

The emergency services found carbon monoxide poisoning on site and immediately initiated first aid before all injured were transported to nearby hospitals. In a total of eight cases, poisoning was diagnosed, the garden hut was then ventilated to eliminate the danger. Around 30 rescue workers were involved in the operation, which was completed after around an hour.
