New cycle path RS1: Bochum bridge is torn down and renewed!

Bochum is preparing for big changes! The extensive construction work on Radschnellweg Ruhr (RS1) begins with the upcoming demolition of the almost 100 -year -old Brücke Parkstrasse. The bridge that leads over the former railway line is demolished from Friday, October 11th to Monday, October 14, 2024. During this time, the parking street is closed and diversions for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers are set up. The new RS1 superstructure is to be completed by 2026, while the first construction phase between Parkstraße and Darpestraße is to be opened for traffic in 2025.

In Gelsenkirchen-Zückendorf there are also significant changes: Renewal work on a passage is still underway here this year, and the RS1 will be closed to traffic by spring 2025. In addition, the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport approved the further planning of further RS1 sections in Essen and Mülheim, which further drives the implementation of the project. The planners of streets.nrw will now check the details and analyze the effects on the environment. Further information on the construction projects can be found in a detailed report on www.lokalkompass.de .
