Zugchaos in North Rhine -Westphalia: For weeks long failures meet commuters in the Ruhr area!

commuter in North Rhine-Westphalia must adapt to massive train failures! From October 7, 2024, Deutsche Bahn will delete important connections in the Ruhr area for several weeks, while extensive construction work on the overhead lines in the Wanne-Eickel and Bochum area will be carried out. These measures are related to the impending expansion of the A43, for which even a full closure is planned in two years.

The effects are drastic: the RE2 from Osnabrück to Düsseldorf is completely canceled between Haltern am See and Wanne-Eickel. The RE42 from Münster to Essen and Mönchengladbach also has to pause for weeks in this section. Commuters should prepare for longer travel times because buses are used as a replacement rail traffic. In addition, the new line RE41 from Bochum to Haltern am See is affected, as is the S2 from Dortmund to Recklinghausen, in which trains are diverted. These extensive construction work is expected to last until November 4, 9 p.m. and bring the usual mobility of many travelers to falter.
