Warning strikes in Böblingen: IG Metall demands 7% more wages!
In the hot phase of the tariff round in the metal and electrical industry, IG Metall has set a sign with warning strikes. In Böblingen, district manager Barbara Resch demanded an improved offer before the talks, since the previous offer does not even compare inflation. By Thursday, around 30,000 metallers took part in the warning strikes in the country to underpin their demands.
The negotiator of the Southwest Metal Employers' Association, Harald Marquardt, criticized the strikes as inappropriate and asked the union in the third round of talks to take a big step towards the employer. The fronts are hardened: IG Metall demands seven percent more wages nationwide for 3.9 million employees, while employers only offer two increases of 1.7 and 1.9 percent with a term of 27 months - the first increase should only be effective in July 2025. The talks should now clarify where an approximation is possible to determine a pilot district for the final negotiations. This affects key industry such as mechanical engineering and the auto industry, such as www.stern.de reported.
