Cycle path K 16 in Vreden: Construction work start later than planned!
In Vreden, cyclists should be careful: The bike path along the K 16 towards Ammeloe is extensively renovated and extended. Originally scheduled for October 7, the construction was postponed to October 16 due to adverse weather conditions. The work that extends over a two -kilometer section contains the basic renewal and widening of the cycle path, which will in future be 2.50 meters wider. This measure should offer urgently needed comfort and increased security for cyclists.
The district of Borken, which is responsible for the renovation, has also announced that the bike path in the construction site area is fully blocked. A signposted diversion for cyclists is set up east of the K 16 via business routes. The total cost of the measure amounts to around 550,000 euros, of which 90 percent are covered by funding. In parallel to the cycle path work, supply lines are also relocated, which costs an additional 200,000 euros that are fully borne by the local works. The construction work should be completed by the beginning of 2025, so that temporary traffic restrictions can be expected during this time. Further information can be found here .
