Bottrop becomes the center of climate experts: ideas for the future!
Bottrop becomes a hotspot for climate experts! For two days, the focus is on around 300 participants who are working on innovative solutions for climate impact adjustment at the Expert Forum of the Future Initiative Klima. "The annual highlight of the network" brings together experts from different areas to develop approaches against the challenges of drought and heavy rain. Under the motto "Trade in change - a leaf donations do not donate a shadow", workshops and excursions take place that take up new topics.
A central concept of the conference is the so -called sponge city, in which rainwater is collected and returned in special “pores” to use the natural water cycle. Andreas Giga from the Emschergenossenschaft explains that 80 percent of the rainwater is lost in mixed water channels, and therefore demands more measures to store in cities. "We need voluntary commitment to get to act from talking," says Giga. Around 500 projects have been implemented in the past ten years to actively combat climate change. Further details on this innovative approach can be found in a report on bottroper-zeitung.de .
