Evacuation for world war bomb: residents relocated to school buildings!
A dangerous dud from World War II was discovered on Gungsstraße, near the intersection to Welheimer Straße. During construction work, workers came across the 250 kg World War II bomb, which has an acid igniter, which makes defusing impossible. Instead, the ordnance removal team will go beyond the bomb after the surrounding residents were evacuated.
The evacuation measures concern about 2,800 residents who are informed by the authorities and relocated to the Willy Brandt Comprehensive School and the Arenberg Law Hall. Sand and other material have already been transported to the explosive point to carry out the controlled blowing. Road closures have been set up to ensure security during the evacuations. Further information is on www.bottrop.de available.
