A nightly rod that was quickly doomed to fail: a suspected copper cable thief was caught in the Ruhrölstraße in Bottrop in the act. Witnesses observed the incident on a company premises and immediately informed the police.

The suspect, a 33-year-old man from Gelsenkirchen, was observed how he tried to steal copper cables from the ground. Armed with a jigsaw, he obviously planned to cut and remove the cables. But the police intervened in good time and could put the man with his tool.

The suspect was released for the time being after the necessary police measures. However, the investigation against the Gelsenkirchener for attempted theft in connection with trespassing, due to the penetration on the company premises, have not yet been completed.
