New police internships for students of the 2023 hiring year: insight into everyday police life and areas of application

New generation of police students enters the stripes

The youngest interns of the 2023 attendance year have completed their first day "on patrol". This phase marks the beginning of a significant section of their dual study, in which they are integrated into the investigative work of the management of crime and the operations of the management.

Police President Friederike Zurhausen emphasized the importance of practical experience for the prospective police officers at the welcome ceremony in the former Scherlebeck colliery. She emphasized that the students are now in direct contact with the citizens and will take responsibility for their security. Zurhausen encouraged her to actively implement the learned theoretical knowledge of the first year of study in the internship and to master challenges.

The three-year bachelor's degree in the police in North Rhine-Westphalia combines theoretical modules at the University of Police and Public Administration NRW with practice-oriented training at the State Office for Training, Continuing Education and Halan Messages (LAFP NRW) as well as practical operations in police authorities.

The new police students will not only acquire professional skills during their internship, but also learn to always align their actions on the values of the rule of law and the basic democratic order. This ethical claim should earn the respect and trust of the citizens.
