Platan bugs: Animal dirt ensures dirty cars in Bottrop!
Bottrop, Deutschland - In the South Bottrop south, an uninvited visitor causes trouble: the plane trunk bug (Corythucha Ciliata) has nestled in the plane trees and leaves an unmistakable traces - Kot droplets that contaminate numerous cars in the area of the garden city of Welheim. The Environment and Green Department has confirmed this, while an investigation by the Münster district government excluded soot particles as the cause.
The city administration does not see any need for action despite the contamination. Environmental director Klaus Müller emphasizes that neither poisonous insect assemblies can be used nor the trees can be felled. Parking bans are also not being planned. "If you park your car under a tree, you have to count on dirt," warns Müller and excludes any liability on the part of the city. The plane truck, a neozoon from North America, has spread greatly since its first sighting in Germany in 1983. However, there is currently no health hazard for residents or passers -by.
