car rolled away and causes accident in Heidenheim

A curious incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Heidenheim when a 46-year-old driver parked his vehicle on the sidewalk in Kapellenstrasse. Apparently he failed to properly put the handbrake on. Around 8:30 a.m. the car started to move and collided with the VW of a 41-year-old, which was parked in Erhardstrasse a few meters away.

The Heidenheim police were called to take the accident. According to the officials, the property damage caused by both vehicles amounts to several hundred euros. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.

The police used the incident to point out how important it is to secure vehicles sufficiently against rolling away, especially in sloping terrain. Vehicles that are not properly secured can easily become self -employed and a danger to people and things in the area. In addition, if there is inadequate security, a fine threatens.

It is advisable to always make sure that the vehicle is correctly parked and secured to avoid accidents like this.
